Thou Shalt Not...Backbite? — A Bahá'í Perspective (Free event)
Details
Backbiting
and fault-finding are popular pastimes in many cultures and have been
around since the dawn of human civilization. We see it in personal
relationships, in school and business environments, and witness it daily
in the news coverage of our government and the politicians that
manipulate for more power. But in its simplest form isn’t it just an
innocent pastime? What harm can a little well-directed barb or a little
criticism really do? Can't letting others know what we suspect or don't
like about somebody sometimes even be useful?
"Material fire consumeth the body, whereas the fire of the tongue devoureth both heart and soul. The force of the former lasteth but for a time, whilst the effects of the latter endure a century." –Baha'u'llah
Please join us for a discussion on a spiritual perspective offered by the Baha’i teachings on fault-finding and backbiting and why this tendency may actually be the most damaging of all human behaviors. It’s being held Wednesday, February 6th at the Eugene Bahá’í Center, 1458 Alder Street, starting at 7 PM. This is a FREE event, and no donations will ever be solicited or accepted.
We look forward to you being part of this important conversation.

If you’ve ever wondered about the Bahá’í Faith, now’s your chance to learn more! Each week we will explore a different topic or theme. We will discuss the hopeful teachings of the continuation of the soul after this earthly life.
Please join an ongoing spiritual exploration and discussion - come for one week, come for all!
Some of us in this discussion may have been trying to walk that spiritual path for years, or are just starting out, or have somehow gotten waylaid somewhere along the way - but we are all seekers!
We warmly welcome people of all backgrounds and beliefs. There are no priests or clergy in the Bahá’í Faith and no proselytizing. Our intention is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and contributing their thoughts and perspectives.
The Baha’i teachings share there is one God, One Humanity and that all faiths and spiritual traditions come from that same Divine Source. Each week – using the Baha’i teachings as our guide -- we will explore the common spiritual truths held by all faiths and traditions. We will also examine why there may appear to be differences. The group will explore such topics as:
• How does one seek the truth?
• The Oneness of the Prophets of God and Oneness of religion
• The Mission of God’s Prophets, revealing guidance progressively as humanity matures
• Who is Baha’u’llah, the Prophet-founder of the Baha’i Faith?
“My object is none other than the betterment of the world and the tranquility of its peoples.” -- Baha'u'llah
These events are FREE and open to all regardless of background or belief.

At some point being cruel to be kind warrants what seems to be
described as backbiting for the sake of "The Best Beloved all things"
Abdu'l-Baha calls out his conniving wicked brother from another mother
in His Will and Testament. https://www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/abdul-baha/will-testament-abdul-baha/
There are similar statements against wicked politicians, clergy,
covenant breakers, traitors, and other criminals by Baha'u'llah, Shoghi
Effendi, and by Nabil in Nabil's Narrative in the Dawn breakers. Are
local card carrying members of the Bahai Faiith along with the public
you teach the Bahai Faith to so ridiculously naive to believe
Abdu'l-baha wrote & said all the damning information about his
brother directly to his face before the Will and Testament was
published, especially if it was TRUE and "The Best Beloved of All
Things" is more important.

We
live in the days of victims in America of horrific child abuse
discovering memories suppressed many years later testifying against
those who perpetuate child abuse as their only recourse for any justice
to be served in their lifetime. (#pedogate & #pizzagate). "We
shrink, for very shame, from treating of the subject of boys. Fear ye
the Merciful, O peoples of the world! Commit not that which is forbidden
you in Our Holy Tablet, and be not of those who rove distractedly in
the wilderness of their desires." https://www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/bahaullah/kitab-i-aqdas/6#161338910

Any
Bahai community complicit in stockholm syndrome naivity and failure to
protect children deserves the absolute wrath of all the "vicious
criticism" and everything true and vitriolic condemnation against past,
present, and future failures to protect children [if such crimes are
true] , which I'm afraid some of you old Bahai P.R. sugar coaters of
past mishaps and growing pains of the Faith so desperately want to
ignore and "conceal" pretending Abdu'l-Baha really wants you to conceal
children getting raped and their genitals mutilated normalizing infant
cirumcision to be all poltically correct for Israel where your world
center is.
