I think the focus should be on the dignity and well-being of people who are living today. It is a good thing to acknowledge provable facts of history, but judge them based on the conditions of the time, not modern standards. This should increase our understanding of the oneness of humanity and should never be an excuse to marginalize anyone. I really don't understand the claim that people are disparaging Vikings, I think these people are just trying to generate controversy, and use it as an excuse to hate other people.

The quote above from the Advent of Divine Justice highlights the fact that various groups of people went through high and low periods in their history and a new Prophet appears where people are at a low point, and afterward they achieve great advancement as a result of the new Revelation. This is not due to an inherent superiority of a certain group of people, but it is from the bounty of God.

Then please critically study the history of Vikings and Scandinavia and all these white European non-Christian or pre-Christian or varieties of anomolous Christian societies in Northern Europe as best as you possibly can. In the context of the times, the Vikings were heroic and creative, and enriched the culture of the world. For instance, the city of Dublin Ireland was founded by Vikings, and the Irish are glad to have it. According to modern standards, the practice of raiding and pillaging and keeping slaves is unacceptable. So is White supremacy or any other racial supremacy unacceptable because it dehumanizes others. It is important to have an accurate view of history, and not glorify people of the past just because they were our ancestors. Some things in the past need to stay there.

There may be different understandings of the meaning of "subordinate". It can mean "subjugate" as in slavery or colonialism, or Apartheid, where there is never any intention of blending races, just one race exploiting another. I think you are thinking of "assimilate" where the intention is to cause a people to give up their native culture and adopt the dominant culture, and potentially their race to be blended into the dominant race such that a racial difference is no longer perceptible.

The idea of a "melting pot" can be different from that, where it is understood that the dominant culture will change as it absorbs elements of the minority culture, and the result is a new culture which is a combination of the two. To me that seems a better outcome than to assimilate, and shows greater respect for each component culture. There are very different opinions about that, and some people feel they have to resist any cultural blending to keep their culture "pure" The only way to make that happen is that each culture remains isolated and never adopts any traits or customs of other cultures, and there is no racial mixing. That requires preventing any migration of people to different countries, or keeping the populations separated if they do.

In the end, I strongly feel that all peoples are one, and it is a good thing if they blend and share their cultures willingly. On the other hand, if minority cultures are forced to assimilate and give up the good traits they have, that is a cultural loss. Not to mention killing off entire cultures, which is a crime against humanity. Of course, human cultures have spread, diversified, merged, blended and died out over and over again over many thousands of years, even hundreds of thousands, so its nothing new, but the vision of one human race united in diversity, and a developing global civilization is new and necessary fro world peace human well-being.

To answer the question about the meaning of this quote from Shoghi Effendi:

"The theories and policies, so unsound, so pernicious, which deify the state and exalt the nation above mankind, which seek to subordinate the sister races of the world to one single race, which discriminate between the black and the white, and which tolerate the dominance of one privileged class over all others—these are the dark, the false, and crooked doctrines for which any man or people who believes in them, or acts upon them, must, sooner or later, incur the wrath and chastisement of God."

I think theories and policies that deify the state are referring to both Communism and Fascism, both of which place the state above all else. Subordinating all sister races to one race is talking specifically about the Nazi theory of a "master race" that is destined to rule the others. Of course those ideas existed in Europe for a century prior to Hitler, and were used as an excuse for colonial expansion by many European countries. Exalting one class above the others could apply to the Caste system in India, the Feudal system in Europe, Capitalism where workers rights are not protected, and also Communism where supposedly the "proletariat" held supremacy, all of which are flawed systems. Discriminating between Black and White also was the policy in much of the United States at that time (1930s), and even where it was illegal it was still practiced, so even the so-called democracies were and still are guilty of it. Not just the U.S., but Canada and Australia and many others had discriminatory immigration policies and policies towards their indigenous peoples. Spain and Portugal had a horrific record exploitation against indigenous peoples that persisted in Latin America even after those countries gained independence, so nobody is without blame here.

So that's why I say we should acknowledge the truth about the past, and not be too nostalgic for it. A unified world based love and respect will be much better.
